Ann Barbara Yost, the last daughter of Philip Yost, married Christian Ruff. Their daughter, Catharine, married John Uriah Suber, and their daughter, Hannah, married John Planter Glymph, Jr.

Generation No. 1

1. PHILIP1 YOST1 was born Abt. 1720 in Germany1,2, and died Aft. 1752 in South Carolina3. He married UNKNOWN.

Notes for PHILIP YOST:

Philip Yost, with wife and three daughters, arrived in SC in 1752, coming on the Cunliffe. Although entitled to 250 acres of bounty land, he petitioned and obtained a 200 acre bounty grant on Meadow Branch of Cannons Creek just north of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Pomaria. Philip Yost is found in the SC Colonial records as Philip "Zoost".

The bounty grant of Philip Yost was later owned by Jacob Cromer. In 1806, George Cromer sold to brother, Henry Cromer, 1/3 of the Philip Yost grant (Newberry Deeds H-303) . The deed says the land was given to George Cromer by his father, Jacob Cromer, and that the tract had been granted to Philip Yost.

2. BARBARA2 YOST (PHILIP1)7 was born Abt. 17497. She married CHRISTIAN RUFF77. He died Bet. January - February 17978.

Notes for CHRISTIAN RUFF:

Christian Ruff, Blacksmith, made will 20 Oct 1794, proven 28 Feb 1797. Christian Ruff is buried in Ruff Cemetery located on 300A survey of 1753 to Jacob Hauffman. This tract, purchased in 1765 by George Ruff, was sold by George Ruff to Christian Ruff in 1789 (Nby Deeds B-421). According to LWT of Christian Ruff all land was left to son, Christian Ruff, Jr. Christian Ruff's first wife is said to have been Barbara Yost. At the time of Christian Ruff's death he had remarried Catherine Heller, d. 6 Dec 1822, widow of John Heller.
